Yesterday our facilitators conducted intensive sessions such as Activities, Planning Model & Planning an Event. During this time volunteers refreshed their knowledge on the various GFP programme categories: Events, Trainings, and Ongoing Activities. It is imperative that they recognise the conflict and target group if they wish to accomplish the desired change, all of which requires a clear understanding of the purpose of each approach. Familiar with this topic? If not, then take a moment to peruse through this post.

Today’s morning sessions focused on refreshing the volunteers’ awareness on how to plan and facilitate their own Sport and Art For Peace sessions. This granted them an opportunity to put their knowledge and skills into practice.

The afternoon sessions concentrated on Monitoring and Evaluation, allowing the volunteers to review the various M&E concepts including expected outcomes, expected impacts, inputs, outcomes indicators and impact indicators. Furthermore, the sessions focused on how to conduct a Participatory Evaluation. Explaining this method, Sairah Yusuf, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Generations For Peace, said: “Participatory Evaluation is an approach that brings together everyone who is involved in a programme, and asks them to – collectively – come to an understanding of what happened and why”.
