The Kugitang Reserve is world-famous for its dinosaur footprints! The footprints were found imprinted into rock plateau.
The suffix “stan” means “place”, so Turkmenistan is, literally, “the place where the Turkmen people live.”
Turkmen rugs are world-famous for the beauty and intricate design.
The national flag has a vertical strip on the left side displaying the five main motifs found in traditional Turkmen carpets, one from each of the five original tribes.
The official language of Turkmenistan is Turkmen, although Russian, Uzbek and Dari are also widely used.
Turkmenistan is famous for breeding horses. The Akhal-Teke horse is known all over the world as a highly regarded race horse. The Akhal-Teke is also the emblem of Turkmenistan.
