International Mother Language Day!
Language enables us to communicate and to fully express our thoughts, feelings and ideas. Moreover, it forms an integral part of identity and is something we should treasure. Appreciating the beauty in our differences grants us a new outlook on life.
In 1999 UNESCO established International Mother Language Day, aiming to “promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism”. Since then it has been observed annually on 21 January.
The staff at Generations For Peace HQ come from diverse cultural backgrounds, making this a relevant date for us to celebrate. Furthermore, we believe it is important to highlight a day that recognises the significance of embracing the many languages spoken among our team.
In light of this unique day, some of the staff at Generations For Peace have filmed a special video for you all!
