Earlier this year, Generations For Peace launched a programme in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, which aims to reduce incidents of violence occurring in schools. Eager to learn more about the impact this is having in Jordan, HQ staff coordinated a visit with selected schools last week.

On December 5th, staff from the Institute, Programmes and MarComms departments, made their way to Princess Taghreed School for Girls and Nusaibah Al Mazeneyeh Girls School. These visits allowed the staff to observe the sessions in action, and also provided an opportunity to meet everyone. Throughout the day, interviews were conducted with the teachers and students, ensuring their stories and achievements are highlighted via our communication channels.

On Saturday 7th, the aforementioned staff welcomed Al Maamoun Boys School to the Generations For Peace HQ. During this time the students participated in Sport for Peace sessions, which were facilitated by the Programmes team and Hana’ Raja Jumah, a Generations For Peace Pioneer, who is leading this programme.

The programme empowers teachers too, helping them to understand their role in reducing the prevalence of violence in schools. Furthermore, these inclusive sessions are an important tool – prompting dialogue amongst teachers and students.
