During September of this year, Lama Hattab (Programmes Manager), Mo’ath Alkhawaldeh (Programmes Coordinator) and Sevgi Sairoğlu (Oxford University Summer Research Intern), travelled to Zimbabwe for a Generations For Peace Field Research Visit.

Field visits of this sort are usually held for the following purposes: for headquarters staff to observe programme implementation on the ground, provide mentoring to local Delegates and Pioneers, and meet and interview volunteers, the target group and members of the beneficiary communities. In some cases, as was the case in Zimbabwe, the visit also includes a research agenda that is carried out by an intern (which varies from visit to visit).

This specific visit did all of the above. Over 10-day trip the HQ team spent their time between two cities, Harare and Gweru. They visited Midlands State University, Oriel High School, Prince Edward High School, and Kwekwe High School, where they observed Sport For Peace Programmes for Youth, and Sport For Peace Programmes for Children. Whilst there, the team also had the opportunity to carry out research interviews with volunteers, participants and beneficiary communities. Below are some photos the HQ team captured along the way!
